My father strapped Birthday Card, who won the Golden Slipper Stakes, now the world's richest race for two-year-olds, in 1962. I've loved horse racing for all of my life and seen some truly great ones in my time, from Tulloch in the 1950s to Black Caviar and Winx in the modern era. I'm a small punter who only backs outsiders. I can't remember the last time I backed a "favourite". I've always figured that it's easier to back one winner at 20-1 than ten at 2-1. I don't encourage people to bet but small bets on outsiders do no damage. I have no connection to Betsfree, only that they generously ran my racing story, If Horses Could Talk, and if you click onto their website, you'll find that they have a way for you to BET RESPONSIBLY and BET FREE.
